The Story Behind Yes, I Think Differently
About Me – Fatuma Elmi
With over twelve years of experience working in higher education across various roles, and as a qualified Neurodiversity Coach with lived experience of dyslexia, I founded Yes, I Think Differently to create spaces where every student can thrive by embracing how they think and learn. My approach combines professional expertise with personal insight, offering a compassionate, practical, and strengths-based pathway for neurodivergent students and the institutions that support them.
I provide tailored one-to-one coaching, study skills support, and neurodiversity-informed strategies that help students build confidence, develop effective learning techniques, and navigate academic life on their own terms. Each session focuses on identifying individual strengths, reducing overwhelm, and promoting self-advocacy and independence.
Alongside student coaching, I collaborate with universities to strengthen their inclusion frameworks through staff training and consultancy. This includes developing neurodiversity awareness, improving student support systems, and fostering academic environments that recognise and celebrate different ways of thinking.
At Yes, I Think Differently, my goal is simple to champion individuality in education and ensure that every learner, no matter how their brain works, feels seen, supported, and set up to succeed.
